Following on from my Chortle Blog, here I am, 4 weeks after Edinburgh, taking stock.
Firstly, my objectives of getting onto some of the big festivals of 2007 are still in the air. I know that some of the key players came to see me, but as to the feedback, I have no idea. Fingers crossed. I am, however, playing the Brighton Comedy Festival. This may seem obvious to most observers, but bizarrely I've never been invited previously. I'm in the Corn Exchange - a 570 seater though - and it will be tough to fill it as I'm going up alongside Frankie Boyle and Ross Noble, who's in the 2200 seater Dome. And with it being a Saturday, (14th October) I'm also up against my own club. That said, my slot is 9:30 to 10:30, which bizarrely is my hour off between the two shows, but my wife has told me I'd be mentally derranged to triple up. Boo.
Secondly, the knock on effect to my standup has been pretty good. I've managed to find a few chunks of my Edinburgh show fit neatly into my set and they are going great guns. Once you've been going 9 or so years, the 'stage time' you get at Edinburgh doesn't make an enormous amount of difference, but the improvement in your writing and material definitely does. I've put a video on Myspace of me doing 4 minutes of my Ed Show at the Comedy Store - and it really works (I think).
Finally, I'm almost able to generate a final account of monies lost . I'm still awaiting two things; the return of the deposit from my flat (approx £350) and the final box office figures, which should arrive in early October. However, one dent I wasn't expecting was the cost of using a 3G card to access the internet while I was in Edinburgh. I was thinking it might be £100 or so, hence me trying to work out the password for the local wireless network I kept stumbling across. Erk, no.

I'm off for a lie-down.
